Visit Korea Committee Offering up to 30% KTX Discounts
for International Visitors
Visit Korea Committee, in collaboration with KORAIL Tourism Development, will begin to offer up to 30% discounts off KTX fares to international visitors. This program is part of the Special Incentive Project to bring substantial benefits to international tourists during the 2010-2012 Visit Korea Year campaign. It is the second train-related program following the Korean Wave Express Tour, the theme tour train that connected Seoul Station and Chuncheon/Nami Island and that proved wildly popular among international tourists.
The KTX fare discounts are available for international tourists regardless of nationality. More details about the discount service are offered on the Visit Korea Year homepage (www.visitkoreayear.com).
After following the proceedings offered on the website and completing an online reservation, international tourists can receive the discount benefits at designated ticket booths when purchasing tickets. This service will be effective until the end of 2012 when the Visit Korea Year campaign ends.
In addition, the committee is offering a wide array of special travel incentives to attract international tourists. Working with hotel chains across the country, the committee offers the One More Night Promotion program by which international tourists who stay in Korea for more than three nights can stay one more night, free of charge. The Free Shuttle Bus program operates Seoul-Gyeongju, Seoul-Busan, and Seoul-Jeonju routes. The Coupon Service also offers a variety of discount coupons for international tourists year-round. In addition, the greatest shopping festival, the 2012 Korea Grand Sale, will be held between January and February, offering discounts on a huge number of items and discount rates greater than ever before. The festival is expected to bring fun, innovative shopping experiences to international tourists.
