The Korea Grand Sale 2012, the Largest Shopping Festival for International Visitors, Is Just Around the Corner
- To be held between Jan. 9th and Feb. 29th and participated in by over 21,800 shops from 76 different types of businesses (10 to 50% discounts offered to international visitors)
- A fascinating array of events to be held including K-POP concerts, Hallyu (Korean Wave) star charity bazaars, Korean movie events and more
The largest shopping festival, Korea Grand Sale 2012 will last between January 9th and February 29th, 2012 for 52 days, in major Korean cities including Seoul, Busan, and Jeju Island.
To differentiate it from sale events in other countries including Hong Kong and Singapore, the festival will host a variety of exciting events (K-POP concerts, Hallyu star charity bazaars, Korean movie events and fan meetings), offering not just shopping but also cultural experiences for international tourists. In addition, profits from Hallyu star charity events will be donated to multi-cultural families in Korea.
During the festival, a free shuttle bus will operate the Seoul-Busan and Seoul-Jeonju routes once per day except for Mondays to promote tourism across the country. A free shuttle bus will also operate and tour major attractions in Seoul including the Gangbuk area (Myeong-dong, Dongdaemun, and more) and the Gangnam area (Cheongdam-dong and Apgujeong, and more), three times a day (one in the morning and two in the afternoon) for three days (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday) a week, offering convenient transport for international tourists.
An even better promotion is offered by the One More Night Promotion program. The program offers international tourists who stay in Korea for more than two nights one more night, free of charge. Over 40 major hotels will participate in the program. During the festival, visitors will be offered a wide array of promotional hotel services including hotel restaurant discounts as well as free use of hotel amenities.
Katie Han, VKC’s Executive Director of Marketing, expects, "The Korea Grand Sale 2012 will be even more successful than the last one by offering great shopping and Hallyu experiences for international tourists.” She adds, "The Visit Korea Committee will actively work on promotion and marketing activities to make the festival a unique Korean event for shopping tourists from around the world."
Organized by the Visit Korea Committee and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the festival will be joined by over 21,800 shops from 76 different types of businesses including major department stores, duty free shops, hotels, mega discount stores, convenience stores, and theaters. The festival will offer 10 to 50% discounts to international tourists, making it the largest one so far during the Visit Korea Year campaign in terms of size and discounts.
