With the original meaning of banquet of the palace, Gung Yeon is a royal cuisine restaurant fastidiously opeated by President Han Bok-Ryeo, who is the third inheritor of Hwang Hyeo-Seong’s Family, National Intangible Cultural Property No. 38. President Han is famous for consultations of royal cuisine on the television series about Daejanggeum (royal cook). Gung Yeon reproduces royal tables, provides formal, nice tables and shows the essence of Korean traditional royal cuisine.

View & Kitchen scouted Chef Yoon Jeong-Jin, who served consecutively as a chef at Gaon and Giheung Byeoldang and opened a Korean-style restaurant. Though the majority of the menu offers Korean food, fusion Korean food mixed with Chinese and/or Japanese food is also popular for food lovers. Located in Nambu Sunhwan Doro (Nambu Inner Circulation Road), View & Kitchen is filled with unique and fantastic interior decorations with bowls and other kitchen appliances. In addition, the second floor is open only for registered members.

As the original Kalguksu restaurant, noodles, which are filled with the delicate scent of freshly harvested wheat and its chewy texture, are enough to gratify food lovers’ senses. The rich taste of meat broth, infusing chicken bones in boiled water with other secret ingredients, cannot be compared with other ordinary meat broths in any other Kalguksu restaurant.

Neobigyp provides steamed spicy galbijjim (braised short ribs seasoned with spicy sauce) with rice cake.  In particular, spicy galbijjim is popular with Japanese visitors over in Myeongdong. Saenggalbi (raw beef ribs) and yachae jeongol (vegetable and beef hot pot in broth) as well as yukhoe (shredded raw beef) are also popular.

Though not inexpensive, like-set-the-table-by-mother baekban (set menu with rice, soup, and side dishes) can be appreciated. In particular, the rice, which is cooked as soon as the order is completed, tastes excellent.

Seorae Yanggopchang is a relatively cheap restaurant to enjoy marinated grilled ox tripe and intestine. The shabby barrel tables provide a unique atmosphere in which to eat thick grilled lamb chops and enjoy a drink.

With Batgodong, Odaegam is famous for squid, small octopus, and bulgogi (sliced and seasoned barbecued beef). Marine ingredients are directly delivered from the Jumunjin Port in Donghae (East Sea). The lunch special menu items such as Ojingeo jeongol baekban (squid casserole and side dishes) and nakji-bulgogi baekban (grilled baby octopus and grilled and seasoned bbq beef with side dishes) are popular for office workers.

This is a chain restaurant of the head restaurant of Gangseo Myeonok, which is located in front of City Hall. Its particular distinction from other naengmyeons is its meat broth: infusing the beef brisket in hot water with other secret ingredients and adding the juice of dongchimi into the infused broth.
