Alpensia Resort

The resort near Daegwallyeong offers an outstanding natural landscape. To be used as a main venue for the 2018 Winter Olympics, the resort consists of top-notch winter leisure facilities (for ski jumping, biathlon, and cross-country skiing). It also offers a golf course, water-themed facilities, a concert hall, and Retail Village, letting visitors experience leisure, culture, and shopping, all in one place.

[Lunch] Pollack and Buckwheat Dish

Pollack and buckwheat dishes are major local dishes in Pyeongchang. Known for containing abundant protein and fiber, buckwheat dishes include Memilmuk (buckwheat firm jelly), Memil-naengmyeon (chilled buckwheat noodle soup in cold broth), Memil-pajeon (buckwheat pancake with green onion), and Memil-jeonbyeong (pan-fried half-moon shaped buckwheat cakes with filling). Two of the better known restaurants offering buckwheat dishes are Bongpyeong Memilkkot Pilmuryeop near Yi Hyo-seok's Birthplace and Pulnaeum. Pollack dishes in Pyeongchang are also famous thanks to their soft and chewy textures and spicy taste. Hwangtaehoegwan is a top notch restaurant offering Pollack dishes.

Jeongseon Railbike

Popular in Europe, rail-biking can be enjoyed in Jeongseon. A rail-biking road installed on closed rails stretches over 7.2km from Auraji to Gujeol-ri. While rail-biking, visitors can witness gorgeous cliffs, peaceful farms, and rivers. The rail-biking roads accommodate two-person or four-person bikers. The distance can be covered in 50 minutes at 10 to 30km per hour.

Hwaam Cave

The cave used to be a gold mine, but it has become a theme cave connecting the gold mine and a natural limestone cave (2,800 m2). Over 1,803m wide, the cave consists of five sections. Some of the well-known attractions include a yellow limestone wall (30m in height and 20m in width), limestone resembling Maria, Buddha, and a general, and a deep waterfall.

[Dinner] Kangwon Land (Korean Beef)

The resort is home to the largest casino in Korea, lodging, and facilities for leisure and entertainment. Thirty minutes by car from the resort are restaurants offering delicious grilled Korean beef produced in Taebaek, a pristine highland.

Misari Motorboat Racing Park

On a huge lake, it is both a boat race arena and a public park. It once hosted canoe and boat races during the 1988 Seoul Olympics and still hosts various international contests. Members of the popular MBC entertainment program Infinite Challenge practiced canoe techniques here. In addition to water sports, visitors can enjoy leisure facilities near the lake (offering soccer fields, foot volleyball courts, volleyball courts, basketball courts, walkways, biking tracks, and a nature learning site). The park is simply an ideal site for sports and leisure.

[Lunch] Naengmyeon and Noodle Dish

Near Misari are many restaurants offering delicious Naengmyeon and noodle dishes. Milbit Chogyeguksu offers Chogye-guksu in which steamed chicken is served in a chilled soup; Manghyang Guksu offers spicy Bibim-guksu (noodles mixed with vegetables, meat, and hot and spicy sauce); Paldang Naengmyeon serves Naengmyeon (buckwheat noodles in chilled broth) with grilled charcoal-grilled beef.

Namyangju Studio Complex

This huge film complex (90,000 m2) is home to numerous outdoor and indoor film sets, a film support center, and a technical effect center. Filmed in the complex are some blockbusters including Shiri and Joint Security Area. A popular tour route is the Visual Experience Room in which a 3D Theater lets visitors feel the vibration of wind and experience scents, and Cinema Avenue lets visitors film a scene and screen it.

Cheongpyeong Water Sports Town

Located around Cheongpyeong Lake (near Seoul), it offers water sports facilities (yachting and water skiing), restaurants, and cafeterias. Visitors can not only enjoy jet skiing, wake boating, and banana boating, but also participate in training programs led by professionals. The programs are safe and accommodate beginners as well.

[Dinner] Dak-galbi and Makguksu

Songwon Makguksu is one of the most famous restaurants in Gapyeong offering Makguksu. Noodles are made after a customer orders, and visitors can enjoy spicy buckwheat noodles in chilled broth. The restaurant appeared in the famous Korean cartoon, Sikgaek. Dakgalbi Town is another well-known restaurant in Gapyeong offering delicious Dak-galbi (grilled spicy chicken with vegetables).

Jeju Island Yachting Tour

Romantic yachting tours on Jeju Island can best be enjoyed at Shangri-la Yachting in Jungmun or Kimnyoung Yachting in the east. Visitors can enjoy sea fishing as well as raw sliced fish and wine on yachts. On a lucky day, visitors can witness a group of dolphins frequently appearing in the sea near Kimnyoung.

Chosen as one of the 100 Best Restaurants in Korea by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, Yurine offers various dishes including Galchihoe (shredded raw hairtail fish), Godeungeohoe (sliced raw mackerel), and braised fish with spicy soy sauce. Godeungeo-ssambap is also a famous local dish that is served with mackerel, long-time fermented Kimchi, and wraps. Jeju Godeungeo Ssambapjip is a better known restaurant offering the dish.

Soesokkak Estuary Transparent Kayak Experience

Intersecting with the sea, the estuary boasts a gorgeous landscape. Surrounded by odd-shaped volcanic rocks and lush pine forests, the estuary offers a transparent kayak experience for visitors for 30 minutes; visitors can tour the landscape on transparent kayaks and watch colorful fish playing underneath.

Cheonjiyeon Falls

The waterfall (22m-high and 12m-wide) is surrounded by gorgeous black hexagonal columnar cliffs. At the foot of the waterfall is a 20m-deep pond circled by primeval forest with subtropical plants. The waterfall is considered one of the Three Falls on Jeju Island, attracting many visitors each year.

Spicy, marinated pork is grilled first and served with seasoned soybean sprouts, shredded white radish, seasoned shredded green onions, and Kimchi. Yongi Sikdang, Gwangdong Sikdang, and Gasiri Duruchigi are three known restaurants offering delicious Dwaji-duruchigi at reasonable prices.
